Guided Night Walk: Elgin

  • Quarrelwood Elgin, Scotland, IV30 8XJ United Kingdom (map)
18/12/26 - Guided Night Walk: Elgin
from £12.50
Limit 10 per order

Join me for a family-friendly, two-hour guided night walk through Quarrelwood near Elgin.

As darkness settles over the forest, we’ll explore the stars and constellations above us, hear some of the stories and folklore connected to them, and practise simple natural navigation techniques that the whole family can try.

We’ll investigate the woodland animals that become active after dark by searching for footprints, feeding remains, droppings and other signs they leave behind. Wildlife can never be guaranteed, but if we are lucky enough to encounter something during the walk, we’ll stop and enjoy the experience.

We’ll also use UV torches to uncover fluorescence that is normally hidden from view and learn how woodland plants and animals are adapted to Scotland’s long winter nights.

The evening is designed to be engaging and accessible for both adults and children. No previous knowledge or outdoor experience is required.

The walk takes place entirely outdoors and will run in most weather conditions. Please wear warm, waterproof clothing and sturdy footwear suitable for uneven and potentially muddy woodland paths. You are also welcome to bring a torch or headtorch and a warm drink.

Children must be accompanied by a participating adult. Full meeting instructions and final event information will be emailed to you before the walk.
