Guided hill day or natural navigation

Hill days are usually planned around a set route, with environmental education, wildlife, natural history and navigation woven through the day.

Night sky, night walks and nocturnal wildlife

Sky folklore and mythology Stories, myths and old beliefs linked to the stars, moon and night sky.

Natural navigation at night Using stars, moon, wind, landscape and other clues after dark.

Thermal scope wildlife spotting Look for nocturnal wildlife using a thermal imaging scope.

UV and bioluminescence Explore glowing natural materials, lichens, fungi and hidden colours after dark.

Nocturnal animal biology Owls, bats, pine martens, mammals and the adaptations that help animals move at night.

Night photography tuition Camera settings, tripods, long exposures, stars, moonlight and low-light scenes.

Hot drinks Simple hot drinks for the group. Suggested add-on: £15.

Fire bowl or firelighting element Add a small firelighting or fire bowl element where suitable. Suggested add-on: £35.

Night events are weather dependent. Cloud, wind, heavy rain, access, group size and moon phase can all affect the final plan.
