Join me for a two-hour guided night walk exploring the woodland, dunes and coastline beside Nairn Golf Club.
As darkness settles, we’ll explore the stars and constellations above us, hear some of the stories and folklore connected to them, and practise simple natural navigation techniques. We’ll also explore nocturnal wildlife using thermal imaging and use UV torches to uncover fluorescence hidden within the natural world.
Along the way, we’ll look at how plants and animals are adapted to life after dark and explore the natural history of Nairn’s coastal habitats. The exact content of the evening will be shaped by the weather, wildlife and night-sky conditions.
The walk takes place entirely outdoors and will run in most weather conditions. Please wear warm, waterproof clothing and sturdy footwear suitable for uneven, sandy or muddy ground. You are also welcome to bring a torch or headtorch and a warm drink.
Children must be accompanied by a participating adult. Full meeting instructions and final event information will be emailed to you before the walk.
